Interactive Virtual Training: Remote Interpreting

DESCRIPTION:

Technology breakthroughs and the virtualization of communication are changing the landscape of professions across the board. Interpreting as we know it is undergoing deep technical transformations comparable to the introduction of multilingual simultaneous interpreting during Nuremberg. The use of remote Interpreting is growing in many markets and whether interpreters are technophobes or technophiles, the subject remains an enigma for many. Therefore, this course will present an overview of remote interpreting platforms and give participants the chance to explore the mode with a hands-on demo.

In this workshop participants will:

  • Learn about different types of Remote Interpreting and the various models used by interpreters today.

  • Identify the best practices and recommendations by professional associations.

  • Reflect on the new possibilities offered by Remote Interpreting and the potential issues to consider.

  • Review the set of skills needed for Remote Interpreting and tips to prevent stress

  • Use the SPEAKING method to analyze the basic needs for an assignment.
