Beth Gilleland is an actor and playwright, an alumna of the Playwrights’ Center, and an Artistic Associate at The Illusion Theater in Minneapolis.
Most recently she appeared in Only One Sophie at Illusion Theater, Father and the Joni Mitchell Tribute Travelin’ with Table Salt Productions; Civil War Homecoming at the Fitzgerald Theater; Toys and Tunes with Dan Chouinard and Friends at the Minnesota History Center, and withThe Theater of Public Policy. She also wrote and directed the musical History on a Schtick for the Minnesota State Fair.
Beth was a company member at Dudley Riggs’ Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis and has worked at most Twin Cities’ theaters. Her musical play Sisters of Swing: The Story of the Andrew Sisters (with Bob Beverage) has had productions in the U.S., Germany, Austria, and Belgium and has been translated into German and Dutch. She has written and/or performed for NPR, BBC Scotland via the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, A Prairie Home Companion, and APR, where she was the voice of super grammar hero Incredible Betty. Beth is a past recipient of a Jerome Study/Travel Grant, a Minnesota State Arts Board Career Opportunity Grant, and a residency at The Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Arts in Red Wing, Minnesota.
