If you ever have felt frustrated, discouraged, at the end of your rope with your job that you love, this presentation is for you.

Medical or legal, spoken language or sign language; whatever the discipline, interpreters act as both witness and narrator of many aspects of trauma,  which over time can impact mental health and emotional well-being.

This workshop is a continuation of previous sessions.

Nobody knows what it is like to be an interpreter as well as another interpreter. It can be a stressful and exhausting job, especially when we interpret distressing or horrific stories. The first hour of this group provides information related to stress and self care. The second hour gives you time to support each other, ask questions, or vent about a difficult work experience. Feel free to come for the support, for the education, or to support others!
      
 Presenter:  Chris Mehus, PHD LAMFT

Chris Mehus is a post-doctoral fellow in Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota and is a Couple and Family Therapist. He has a private practice primarily working with couples and people dealing with the effects of traumatic stress. Broadly, his research involves prevention of the inter-generational impact of traumatic stress. His current research focuses on parenting and he has worked with parents in Minnesota and northern Uganda.
