School Outreach Contest

**The 2020 School Outreach Contest is still happening. Even though the school year has been affected by COVID-19, you can get creative and find whatever way possible to promote our profession. We are excited to hear about it!**

UMTIA is excited to announce its annual School Outreach Contest! This is a contest open to all UMTIA members with the purpose of promoting our profession to today’s youth. All you have to do is get out into a classroom and teach students about translating and/or interpreting. Take a photo (even if it’s just the students backs) and send it in to UMTIA along with a summary of your experience by September 15. The prize is a $500 scholarship to get certified through any of the national certifications. The winner will be chosen by the UMTIA Board and announced at the annual membership meeting in November.

To Apply

Please verify that you are a current UMTIA member and then send in this application along with a photo of your school outreach experience to president@umtia.org by September 15. Any questions can be directed there as well. Good luck!

*Of note, the UMTIA Board has decided to make this an ongoing scholarship opportunity, so if you missed the deadline for the current year, you'll have another opportunity next year!*
